If you’re looking for a fun and unique day trip this summer, Van Gogh’s Flowers at the New York Botanical Garden is absolutely worth a visit. Now open through October 26, 2025, this one-of-a-kind exhibition brings together the beauty of nature and the magic of art in a way that’s totally immersive and perfect for all ages.
We took the kids and had such a fun day exploring the gardens, taking in the colorful displays, and learning more about one of the world’s most iconic artists. The exhibit celebrates the flowers that inspired so many of Van Gogh’s paintings, and NYBG has brought them to life with large-scale recreations, creative installations, and interactive moments that spark curiosity and joy.
Our favorite spot? The sunflower field! The kids had a blast running around and playing, and we loved snapping a few photos surrounded by the vibrant yellows and oranges that make Van Gogh’s work so recognizable. The entire space is beautifully designed and full of color- it really does feel like stepping into a painting.
Whether you’re looking to introduce your little ones to Van Gogh in a fun, hands-on way, or just want an easy, engaging activity the whole family can enjoy, this experience hits all the right notes. There’s plenty of room to roam, spots to sit and take it all in, and just the right amount of education mixed with play.
Make a day of it and stroll through the rest of the Garden letting the kids lead the way. It’s the kind of outing that makes you feel inspired, connected, and maybe even a little bit artistic.
