Dominic Murray was a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest when he was only 17. Witnesses did not realize that he was in distress, which delayed the start of CPR and immediate access to an AED. Since then, Dominic’s mother along with the help of heart health organizations have worked to promote a bill that would ensure that public and non-public schools, students, and parents are provided with critical, lifesaving information on SCA including risks, signs, and symptoms.

New York State Parents and Guardians help get the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act signed into law. Contact Governor Kathy Hochul and urge her to sign the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act (A.2388B/S.1016B) into law.

Copy the message below to the Governor:

Dear Governor Hochul,

As a parent I urge you to sign into law the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act. Sudden cardiac arrest is the #1 killer of student athletes and the leading cause of death on school campuses. More than 23,000 young people under the age of 18 die from SCA every year. These deaths are preventable. The Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act is critical to reduce this crisis, ensuring public and non public schools educate staff, students and their families about SCA; it’s signs, symptoms, and risks.

Sign into law the Dominic Murray Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act (A2388B | S1016B) to protect the students of New York State.
