Robin Buco: I have two daughters, Aurora is 9 and Nova is 5.
Northern Westchester Mom: What’s one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
Robin Buco: Day trips into the city for all sorts of adventures like checking out museums or unique playgrounds.
Northern Westchester Mom: How did All Together Now come about?
I have always loved brick-and-mortar toy and book stores and think they add a lot of charm to a town and offer a lot of community building opportunities.
Northern Westchester Mom: How do you curate the items for the stores?
Robin Buco: I always approach my buying with the thought of, would I want my kids playing with that? I’m drawn to toys that foster imaginative and open ended play as well as educational games and puzzles. Most of the items we sell are made of wood and very few of them require batteries. Since sustainability is so important to me, I always opt for natural and organic materials that have not been derived from chemicals. This is the same reason why you won’t find any plastic cellophane wrapping options in our stores. All gifts a wrapped with 100% recycled paper and ribbon.
I am definitely a believer that you can never have too many books and we have a selection for infants all the way through middle grade. I love stocking our book areas with everything from the classics to interactive books. Equally as important are the books the celebrate our differences as well topics that can be difficult to discuss. I can’t forget to mention the books that make both my kids and myself laugh out loud! A family favorite picture book is “Pluto Gets the Call” by Adam Rex and our favorite chapter book series is The Vanderbeekers by Karina Yan Glaser.
Northern Westchester Mom: How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Robin Buco: We rely on word of mouth to help promote our business, I know the community has been a huge help with that. Without our customers, our business would not survive. We are always grateful to the community for choosing us to buy their next gift from. Every purchase means so much to a small business.
